TUESDAY, MAY 6, 1997

At 0900 hours, interviews were conducted at the State Attorney's Office with Assistant State Attorney Mark McGarry. These interviews were with the following individuals:

Andrea Jane Sprecher, W/F, DOB 5/XX/52

Background: Lived in Palo Alto, California and presently resides in the Hacienda Apartments on Saturn Avenue. Has two years of college and no medical background. Became involved in Scientology in July 1988 and moved to Clearwater. Presently the Division Head of Public Courses. Is senior to the Public MLO, Emma Schamehorn, and the Staff MLO, Janis Johnson.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: Alain Kartuzinski would have been responsible for the spiritual reconditioning of Lisa McPherson. Andrea was asked if she could have walked in at anytime and ended the cycle or watch and she stated no. Her basic involvement in this case was that she was simply requested by Alain Kartuzinski to assign Janis Johnson to the Lisa McPherson case full time. The reason why Janis Johnson was not looking after Lisa the weekend before she died is

that she was assisting a doctor from California by the name of Megan Shields in doing staff physicals.

Asher Samuel Ghiora, W/M, DOB 10/XX/75

Background: Born in Harbor City, California. Presently lives at Hacienda Gardens on Saturn Avenue. Has no medical background but is qualified in CPR. In 1993, he moved to Clearwater with the Church of Scientology.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: He was assigned to the Food & Beverage Department but was told to report to Room 174 in the cabanas as a security trainee under the supervision of Arthur Baxter and Paul Kellerhals. Arthur Baxter was his immediate boss. Has received training in trespassing, hand to hand combat, etc., to prepare him to be a security guard. Briefed by Arthur Baxter and told that Lisa McPherson was a type 3 personality and an emotional wreck. As a security guard outside the door, his job was to keep Lisa in the room. On two occasions, he had to guide Lisa back into the room. He had to leave his post outside of her door approximately five days before Lisa's death. He believed he wrote three or four reports and turned them into Attila Toth, another security guard (NOTE: these were not in the reports turned over to us by the Church). He was on duty when Dr. Haughton came by Lisa's room several times. He had to hold Lisa down once so she could receive sedatives. In the room when she received the sedatives was David Haughton, Heather Hoff, Rita Boykin, and himself.

Michael Arthur Stuart Baxter, W/M, DOB 9/XX/57

Background: Born in Australia. Moved to Clearwater in 1982 and presently lives at Hacienda Gardens on Saturn Avenue. Has no medical background. His parents were Scientologists and he became one in 1958 when he was ten months old. He was staff with the Church Of Scientology in Australia. He worked in administration and finances and changed to security in 1991. He was Security Chief during Lisa's stay at the Ft. Harrison Hotel.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: He received a phone call from Benetta Slaughter asking for help, which was unusual since Lisa was a public. He then called Alain Kartuzinski and Emma Schamehorn. Alain Kartuzinski told him to find out if there was a room available for Lisa. Alain Kartuzinski, Paul Kellerhals, and Arthur talked about Lisa and her condition while there. His instructions to Sam Ghiora were that, if Lisa wanted to leave the room, he should guide her back to the room. Alain Kartuzinski requested that reports be written by the caretakers and security and turned over to him. I asked if he had the authority as the Security Chief at that time to end the cycle and release Lisa. He stated no, that Alain Kartuzinski would have to give his okay. He indicated that he wrote several reports. After reviewing reports we showed him, he was able to pick out his handwriting. He indicated that there may be security logs available, but that he was not sure. He received reports from caretakers regarding Lisa's condition. He was asked if Janis Johnson visited Lisa while he was there. He stated that it was possible but he could not remember specific dates.

THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1997

A subpoena was requested for Eckerd Drugs for the prescription that Dr. David Minkoff wrote to Dr. David Haughton, the dentist, for Lisa McPherson. Those documents were obtained by Det. Jorge Carrasquillo. The following document is a sheet of a third party insurance claim log and a note possibly from the pharmacist indicating "David Haughton for Valium - 5mg/ml 1 ig. 2mm im hs for sleep." It had a DEA number of #AM 1446346. It says Minkoff 8459115.

TUESDAY, MAY 20, 1997

We conducted interviews with the following individuals:

Leslie Woodcraft, W/F, DOB 9/XX/48

Background: Born in England. Presently resides at Hacienda Gardens on Saturn Avenue in Clearwater. Has no medical background. Became a Scientologist in 1968 in England. Came to Clearwater in 1988 but went to Los Angeles that same year and remained until returning to Clearwater in 1993. She has been doing personnel and clerical work.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: Arthur Baxter, the Security Chief, asked Leslie to look after Lisa. She was told by Arthur about Lisa's condition. She arrived in Lisa's room on 11/23/95 to relieve Silvia DeLaVega and saw Janis Johnson there. She could not remember writing any reports regarding Lisa. She was relieved of her

watch by Joan Stevens. While Leslie was there, she saw Lisa slap Janis Johnson in the face for an unknown reason. She believed that Janis Johnson's role there was to provide medical care for Lisa. After Lisa's death, Marcus Quirino did interviews about what occurred during Lisa's stay. Olivia Jaillot was in charge of obtaining caretakers for Lisa. Leslie reported verbally to Alain Kartuzinski once, at which time she told him that Lisa was very crazy.

Alice Van Grondelle, W/F, DOB 6/XX/51

Background: She currently resides at Hacienda Gardens in Clearwater. She studied chemistry in school but did not practice it afterwards. She joined the Church of Scientology in 1976 and has been a staff member since 1977. She came to Clearwater in 1994 and is presently the librarian at 210 S. Ft. Harrison Avenue.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: Leslie Woodcraft woke her up in the middle of the night and asked her to look after Lisa. She wrote a report about Leslie Woodcraft because she felt it was unfair for her to be asked to look after Lisa. She made four copies of the report and turned three of the copies over to people at the Church. She then kept a copy in her own file in the library. About three months ago, she found her copy and was asked to turn it over to Security, which she did. She learned during this interview that all four copies of her report are lost and missing. She spoke to Attorney Lee Fugate about this case approximately five or six weeks ago.

Background: She was born in Italy and presently resides at Hacienda Gardens in Clearwater. She has no medical background.

Relationship To Lisa McPherson: She assisted in the watches on Lisa. She attended a meeting in Alain Kartuzinski's office, at which time Kenia Smith and Ryan Landry were also present. She could not remember if she wrote any reports or not. She did not attend the meeting after Lisa's death held by Marcus Quirino.
