Dear Mr. McGarry:

This letter follows our telephone conversation of January 22, 1997, regarding my client Laura Arrunada.

After reading accounts in the press about Scientologists in this investigation being "ostensibly represented by counsel," I thought it necessary to advise you in writing that I was contacted by Ms. Arrunada, I met with her in Mexico City and represent her interests in the above-referenced matter.

Additionally, I have been contacted by, have met with and represent Joan Stevens, Barbro Wennberg, Patricia Stracener and Emma Schermerhorn in the above-referenced investigation.

With the exception of Ms. Arrunada, my clients are local and available for interview via state attorney subpoena and the immunity protections provided by F.S. 914.04.

Ms. Arrunada lives in Mexico City, Mexico and, for family reasons and visa reasons, necessitates being interviewed with immunity protection in Mexico.

I am happy to work with you and Sergeant Andrews to accommodate your schedule and calendar in order to travel to Mexico to interview Ms. Arrunada with the minimum of inconvenience and cost.

As I also mentioned to you in our previous telephone conversation, I am also available to discuss/proffer information regarding these clients that may prove helpful to you in your contemplation of culpability, liability and exposure and your decision to use F.S. 914.04 to obtain their testimony.

If I can be of any further assistance to you or Sergeant Andrews, don't hesitate to contact me.
